Sewer Improvement Projects

The City Social Circle is actively investing in critical sewer infrastructure to improve efficiency, reliability, and capacity across the community. Below are updates on key projects currently underway:

Regional Pump Station Project

This major project is being completed in two parts by separate contractors—one focused on constructing the new lift station, and the other responsible for installing the gravity sewer line and clearing the right-of-way. Once completed, this will significantly enhance sewer service in the region.

Wildwood Drive Pump Station & Gravity Sewer Force Main

This project is designed to eliminate aging lift stations, improving long-term reliability and reducing maintenance needs. It is currently under consideration by the Mayor and City Council.

Alleyway Sewer Project

This project was recently completed. It has improved service and flow capacity in the downtown corridor.

SCADA System Upgrades

The City has awarded a contract to upgrade the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, which will provide real-time monitoring and control of lift station operations—enhancing efficiency and emergency responsiveness.

Wastewater Treatment Plant & Public Works Facility

Design is currently underway for a new Wastewater Treatment Plant and the main Public Works Facility. These projects represent long-term investments to support future growth and infrastructure resilience.

Water Distribution Improvement Projects

The City of Social Circle is committed to strengthening its water infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service for residents and businesses. Ongoing and upcoming projects include:

Water Treatment Plant Improvements

The City of Social Circle is actively investing in critical upgrades to its Water Treatment Plant to improve system reliability and efficiency.  Currently underway is the Filter Rehabilitation Project, which is approximately 50% complete on the first of two filters. In addition to the filter work, the City is pursuing several other upgrades at the facility, including:

  • New water basin handrails (currently in the design phase)

  • Replacement of aging windows

  • Installation of updated chemical feed systems

  • New raw water intake infrastructure

  • Upgraded pumps to enhance capacity and operational performance

Water Main Projects

  • Lakewood Drive and Cannon Drive water mains are both in the final stages of design, and will help improve system flow and reliability in their respective areas.

  • An upgrade to the Heritage Park to Tower Road water main is also in development to enhance service in the area.

  • Galvanized Line Replacement and Master Meter Project is currently out for bid, this project includes the required replacement of galvanized water lines and the installation of a new master meter. These improvements are part of the City’s ongoing efforts to modernize the water system and comply with regulatory standards.

New Water Tank Planning

Engineers are currently evaluating sites for the installation of a new 1-million-gallon water storage tank, which will increase system storage.
